New Series ‘Undone’ Is The #1 Reason To Get Amazon Prime Video

Redefining adult animation.

The hardest thing about getting someone to watch something as genuinely novel as ‘Undone’ – the latest product of Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg and writer-producer Kate Purdy – is trying to describe it…so here goes.

It’s a live-action (yet animated) father-slash-daughter murder mystery (but her father is already dead, so he’s helping investigate his own murder) that revels in the mundanity of modern life yet takes the viewer on an incredible and visually mesmerizing journey to comprehend the non-linearity of space/time…but is also a parable about mental illness and explores familial and sexual relationships in a refreshing, heartbreakingly honest way.

Okay, just watch this and come back.

See?

It stars Alita: Battle Angel’s Rosa Salazar as Alma, navigating her slow spiral into another universe and the family and friends that surround her.

If the animation technique looks familiar, it’s the same ‘rotoscoping’ technique used in the 2006 film ‘A Scanner Darkly’, where both hand-drawn and computer-animated images are mapped over human performances, giving incredible depth to the acting as well as precisely the surreal tone such a unique story needs.

Amazing, unforgettable and exclusive to Amazon Prime Video – watch the first episode (of eight) here.
