Tactical streetwear brand ACRONYM has collaborated with Republic of Gamers to deliver a special, limited edition laptop that has to be seen to be believed.
The ROG ZEPHYRUS G14 ACRNYM RMT01 (best. name. ever.) iterates on the slender Zephyrus range of gaming laptops to deliver a powerhouse dripping with cyberpunk stylings.
Fresh off his cameo in Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding, fashion maven Errolson Hugh linked up with British graphic designer and frequent collaborator David Rudnick to create a one-of-a-kind ‘reality modelling tool’ which delivers a unique experience both aesthetically and internally.
Unique looks abound with laser etching across the aluminium device, custom paintwork and even a novel typeface across the keyboard (emblazoned with the trademark ‘A’ throughout) to deliver a real head-turner.
Despite a slender chassis, specs are hefty with an AMD Ryzen 9 CPU and NVIDIA’s RTX 2060 doing the graphical heavy lifting, whilst a 14-inch IPS variable refresh rate display ensures the RMT01 is no slouch in the gaming department.
The coolest part has to be the dot-matrix inspired LED display on the device’s lid, able to cycle through a series of custom ACRONYM animations, including Hugh’s own bonce in a Max Headroom style.
About the design process, Hugh says:
“We try to break the expected relationship with a product to make the user feel more aware of the product as a tool, and make them more active and engaged with it.
It’s too easy to become complacent toward the technology we use and let into our lives, and that can make us passive recipients of information, and thus less creative and less empowered.”
With the outer packaging a sustainable work of art in itself as a reusable Airpak sleeve and the G14 sporting a special visual interface called ‘The Brain’ based on human mind mapping, the RMT01 is truly one-of-a-kind.
Such a premium laptop comes with a suitable price tag and availability, showcasing at the uber-exclusive Lab Store London for £2,499.
