The CRISP. List – Five Best Sneakers for Summer 2022

The weather’s (sort of) warming up, lockdown restrictions are easing in the UK…what better time to stock your wardrobe with a selection of cool, clean trainers for that festival fit?

With prices to suit all wallets, check out our choice of five understated – yet eyecatching – pieces of footwear.

END x NEW BALANCE ‘ART OF NOTHING’ XC72 – £125

Grey shoes on a cream background

Newcastle-based retailer END continues its streak of phenomenal collaborations, this time aligning with footwear mainstay New Balance for a muted capsule collection.

Suede and breathable mesh come together in the ‘Art of Nothing’ XC72, an off-white affair with attractive gum-coloured accents.

Effortlessly cool.

Available via End Launches from the 26th of February.

NIKE AIR HUARACHE (TRIPLE WHITE) – £110

Less trainer and more an institution at this point, Nike’s Air Huarache has become a staple from the terraces to the tiki bar. Tinker Hatfield’s timeless design from 1991 still looks incredible, and the triple-white colourway is one of the most appealing hues.

The futuristic neoprene insole means maximum comfort and laces are optional, whilst the leather upper creates a two-tone finish that wows in both form and function.

Minimal Nike branding and its elaborate construction makes the Huarache one of the best silhouettes of all time…a flawless summer shoe.

Available directly on Nike.com

LACOSTE L001 TRAINERS – £90

Bringing an air of refinement to proceedings, the Lacoste L001 evokes an era of style in simplicity.

Available in muted cream with a variety of subtle accents (the grey a current CRISP favourite), the L001 harkens back to classic Lacoste, but falls right in line with current trends of chunky soles and clean aesthetics.

Versatile enough to be paired with a linen suit as it would some (lightly pressed) beach shorts, the L001 is an ideal accompaniment to those hazy, lazy bottomless brunch affairs.

Currently available at Schuh.

AMIRI STADIUM LOW WHITE – £650

Amiri Stadium Low

Taking things to a different tax bracket are the Amiri Stadium Lows – echos of McQueens crossed with Aime Leon Dore’s New Balance collabs ring heavily here.

Leather abound as one would expect, with the requisite detailing and bold branding of the LA streetwear brand on the rear and outsole, as well as raised lettering on the tongue.

A chunky sole rounds out proceedings for a pair of trainers that are physically subtle, but financially stand out.

Available from Amiri.com

LOUIS VUITTON ‘#54’ TRAINERS – £860

Louis Vuitton 54 Trainers

The late Virgil Abloh leaves his mark on the famed fashion house, with his take on mid-top monochrome trainers.

Draped in calf leather and with clear inspiration from basketball shoes, these sneakers are the perfect union of sneaker culture and high fashion, with the ‘#54’ on the heel marking 1854 – the year of the founding of Maison Vuitton – and sporting handwritten embossed logos on the side.

Less trainers and more a work of (appreciating) art, these are the summer shoe for those who frequent Chateau Marmont as opposed to Park Royal Megabowl.

Available from Louis Vuitton – limited sizes
